Carly's 2 Cents: Like An Early Spring Till That Don’t Come Around

After much deliberation, I decided to kick off my first ever blog post on The Daily Down(low)d with a song by a newly favorite artist of mine Nathaniel Rateliff, “Early Spring Till” from his premier album In Memory of Loss. This song captures and articulates the recent droning and waning effects of the cold winter I along with many others have been experiencing recently, so I found it fitting. Nathaniel Rateliff, an Indie/Folk artist, grew up in Bay, Missouri (population 60) and now currently resides in Denver. He released his first album In Memory of Loss this past April although he has been playing and performing for the past twelve years. Produced by Brian Deck, whom has worked with bands such as Modest Mouse and Iron and Wine, this album is earnest and soulful and showcases the pathos and twang of Ratecliff’s voice through accentuating melodies and poetic lyrics. So give the song a listen and if you’re feeling adventurous check out the entire album, I guarantee it is worth listening to.
