The song I have selected for today’s blogpost is “Casimir Pulaski Day” by Sufjan Stevens, off his album Illinois. This beautiful, yet sorrowful song has maintained a spot on my iTunes “Top 25 Most Played” playlist since he released this album five years ago, so I figured it had served its time and deserved a day on the blog. The song tells the riveting tale of one of Stevens’ friend who was diagnosed with bone cancer. This gripping song-story isn’t exactly carefree party music, but trust me when I say it is worth listening to.-Carly
