It’s Monday and everyone’s probably thinking, “When is the weekend going to be here?” Well, I have something that will definitely wake you up for the week.
Daniel del Rosario and Ben Feole from Charlotte, North Carolina, make up the group Distort the Fluff. The duo claims they’re an “experimental electronic/hip-hop/dubstep group,” but I feel they’re much more than “experimental.” Tracks like Subox and Dubbonade exhibit the duo’s true talent; however, it’s their remix of Lykke Li’s “Tonight” titled “Lykke” that really gets me. Distort the Fluff takes Li’s song and further emphasizes the idea of love being lost in a relationship through the repetition of the chorus, “Don’t you let me go, let me go tonight.”
Distort the Fluff’s unique take on “Tonight” is what makes it one of my newfound favorite remixes (thanks to Cody McGuire). Every drop and robotic noise only adds to the original. Give it a listen below, I recommend closing your eyes and “letting go.”
